Alternative Purbeck Footprints

Fossils are all over the place on the Isle of Purbeck but a fossil trackway is very special and shows the footprints of Sauropods laid down over 100 million years ago. I have marked a few of the footprints on one photograph but there are many more and seeing the soil stripped away to reveal such a find is incredible.

First You Make Contact...



It took a little while but we found a Fox. He was careful, as you would expect, but he was the big brother: the brave one! Slowly, with courage and determination reserved for the first born he got closer and stayed as close as he wanted.



He seemed happy enough, I wasn’t a threat and there was room enough in his world for both of us.
It was then that some of his family turned up.



This was the smallest, a beautiful little girl who stayed a little further away than the rest, sitting quietly, watching and waiting. As if wanted to come and say hello, but didn't know if she should.

Prehistoric



The connection between dinosaurs and birds is well documented but there are not too many birds that look as if they would be happy flying in the Jurassic era. The Shag and the Cormorant  are two of these and the beauty of both is not apparent until you get close.
