Fox Revisited

It was only a matter of time before I went off in search of Foxes again! Tonight there was only the one, older, wiser and far more sure of himself. They have the finest eyes in the business and when they stare at you, it seems that they are looking deep into your mind.

Another superb encounter but I think it is time for me to leave them in piece for a while.

An Evening With Young Master Fox

Spending time with a wild animal in its own environment is very special. When the wild animal seems happy to spend time with you, the word 'special' is just not enough! Tonight, my new best friend was a young male Fox cub and the time I spent with him was incredible.

Time is a little tight at the moment but I managed to take a few shots of our lifeboat towing a yacht back into the bay. It is always good to see the lifeboat and you can get great views from the cliffs if you are lucky.

Small Worlds

At this time of year the arrival of countless species of bug, butterflies and mini-beasts means that macro photography is back on the agenda.

Crickets and Grasshoppers are a real favourite, but there is no shortage of willing models.

One of the benefits of macro photography is that you don't have to go very far, just find a field, sit down and keep your eyes open!

Last Day At The Office

For the past nine days this has been my office but tomorrow it is back to the real world and Andy will take over (he couldn't hide the huge grin on his face when I saw him yesterday).
You may remember that I have been spending a bit of quality time trying to get to know a Robin, well yesterday he took food out of my hand for the first time which was very special.
I have really enjoyed pretending to be a proper wildlife photographer this week and will miss chatting about your bird and animal encounters even more than I'll miss the Robin.
So, a huge thank you everyone that has managed to visit our exhibition and stopped for a chat, but don't forget that it is on for another two weeks and I'll be back up there at the weekend.

Mid Week Wanderings

Last night the Poole Fire & Rescue Camera Club came over to have a wander around 'my patch' for a couple of hours. I have been over to a couple of their meetings to talk about my photographs and the Isle of Purbeck and this was my chance to show off how wonderful this place is.
The weather was superb and there are always wonderful landscape photo opportunities but the wildlife was lacking a little.
We saw the back end of a rapidly disappearing Peregrine, a well camouflaged Roe Deer and several Orchids (including a badly positioned Bee Orchid).
But I think we all had a fine time and I certainly enjoyed seeing them all again.

A Hard Day at the Office

It has been another beautiful day at Durlston Castle and, with well over two hundred people visiting our exhibition, another very successful one.
Tonight, I need to order some more prints (which is always good news) but in the morning I will be able to have a couple of hours to wander the cliffs before the opening at 11am.
I am having far too much fun!

The Wild Side of Purbeck Photographic Exhibition

We have had our opening night preview and we have had our first day, now I can just enjoy talking to people about my photographs and listening to their stories.
Durlston Castle's Fine Foundation Gallery must be one of the best venues for an exhibition like ours. The staff are all superb, incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help. The views from the castle are just amazing and it is far too easy to just sit and watch the world go by.
For the next eight days this will be my 'office' and it must be very hard to find a nicer one.
So, hopefully, after spending far too much time planning for the exhibition I can get out and about again and start using the camera!

Finally, a big thank you to the Rangers at Durlston and all those who take the time to come to see us, have a chat and look at the photographs that Andy Farrer (from Lensflair) and I are so proud of.
