At this time of year Corfe Castle, already one of our most popular buildings, is a magnet for photographers and most of them seem to head for the same view point, on the hill to the west of the castle. From this place you can see down the valley and follow the mist as it appears and disappears at sunrise. There are plenty of other places to watch the castle appear out of the mist and these tend to be ignored by most people, even though I prefer the shots that you can get.
A walk from the top road around the common can be very wet, very muddy but great fun.
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsula on the southern tip of the the county of Dorset in England. The photographs I take, hopefully, help to express how I feel about this magical place and show you things which you may see if you come to visit. I am a full time, professional photographer and have a gallery in Swanage. Please feel free to click on the picture to see it larger or to look at my other photographs. www.purbeckfootprints.co.uk

The Autumnwatch Effect
We live in a very special part of the
country and it is always nice to be told just how special this place is. BBC's
Autumnwatch TV programme is currently using a local RSPB reserve as their home
and, being only a few miles down the road, it is a place I know pretty well.
So, completely unashamedly, I have decided to jump on the Autumnwatch bandwagon
and show off a few of my favourite local wildlife shots. These are shots of some of the locals that the
show are showing.

Sunday Morning Guided Walks
This morning I headed a wildlife and photography walk around the lovely Avon Heath Country Park. This is a place new to me and somewhere that I am looking forward to getting to know better. The group today was small but very friendly and we had a fine time hunting through the trees and heathers photographing the local crickets, dragonflies, butterflies and spiders. There was also a very friendly Robin that kept me amused until the group arrived.

Big skies and big clouds
The last few days has seen the Isle of Purbeck bathed in somewhat 'changeable' weather. This is never too much of a bad thing as we have big skies around here and with big skies you get some pretty big clouds!

Meet the Locals
A walk from the cliffs to the castle is always going to be good, you get the best of both worlds and not just with the fabulous views. Our local wildlife changes with the landscape too, there is always plenty to aim the camera at.

A Mini Murmuration
Starlings are beautiful birds and watching
them is always a good way to spend your time. We have a small group nearby and
although the patterns they make as they twist and turn in the sky are not up to
the standards of some, our own mini murmuration is pretty special.
