The Red Squirrel can be seen on Brownsea Island in the centre of Poole Harbour. They are incredibly cute but also rather fragile and very fussy eaters. They have been almost completely replaced by the larger, much more successful Grey Squirrel that was introduced from North America in the 19th century.
Pockets of reds can still be seen in the UK but they are few and far between.
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsula on the southern tip of the the county of Dorset in England. The photographs I take, hopefully, help to express how I feel about this magical place and show you things which you may see if you come to visit. I am a full time, professional photographer and have a gallery in Swanage. Please feel free to click on the picture to see it larger or to look at my other photographs. www.purbeckfootprints.co.uk

Wild versus Captive Otters
I have spent a fair amount of time over the last few days taking photographs of wild Otters in their own environment and rescued Otters in captivity. You just can't beat spotting Otters in the wild and managing to get a reasonable photograph is bonus.
Watching Otters in captivity is great fun but you just don't get the same buzz. That said, I could watch them all day whether they are wild or not.

Heaven's Gate
The view from Heaven's Gate is another one of the finest views on the Isle of Purbeck. You can see for miles across Kimmeridge Bay towards Weymouth, Portland and beyond. Watching the Sun set from here is very special and the walk home in the dark is pretty good too.

The Rut
At this time of year our Sika stags are getting rather excited and the result is always explosive.
There is always a winner, a loser and a particularly bored looking young lady.
The winner struts about with his head back looking very important and the loser wanders off to find a girl with a smaller boyfriend.
