You can see Gannets quite often from the cliffs at Durlston but they are usually quite far away. This one was found by my wife on the beach with an obviously broken wing.
The R.S.P.C.A. were called out but, this rather beautiful bird had to be put to sleep because of the severity of the break.
Very sad, but the kindest thing to do, I suppose.
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsula on the southern tip of the the county of Dorset in England. The photographs I take, hopefully, help to express how I feel about this magical place and show you things which you may see if you come to visit. I am a full time, professional photographer and have a gallery in Swanage. Please feel free to click on the picture to see it larger or to look at my other photographs. www.purbeckfootprints.co.uk

That's sad, but quick and stress-free for the bird. What beautiful colouring, lovely photo to see up that close :)
