Like Mother, Like Daughter

At this time of year, the Sika can look quite drab, especially when the weather is equally grey and dull. In the Autumn though, they have a beautiful coat that looks wonderful in all weathers.
Regardless of this, I always enjoy seeing these long settled visitors and getting close to them is very special.

Another young Roe deer, which should help to keep the small Purbeck herd going. I always get a buzz when I see these, even though I manage to catch a glimpse most days. There were two here today and that made a rather soggy walk a lot more enjoyable.

Later Sunsets

Day by day the days are growing longer and with it, the chance of photography after work! We are back to cloudy days after a week of beautiful blue skies but the memory of those wonderful sunsets and looking forward to evening walks will keep me going until Spring.

Misty Mornings

We have had some beautiful, blue sky mornings lately and although I really enjoy seeing the sun in the morning, things really start to get interesting when the mist rises. The landscape that we know so well changes and, as the sun tries its hardest to burn the mist away, the shadows can be quite amazing.
It makes the journey to work a little more interesting.

Kingston to Corfe Castle

The walk from Kingston to Corfe Castle gives some very impressive views along with the bonus of the Blashenwell water wheel! As you work your way towards Corfe the castle appears and disappears regularly behind the hills of Corfe Common, making it easy to imagine countless footsteps over countless years.
Yesterday, after discovering just how wet the ground was, we decided to stick to the path, it was a lot less muddy and we got to keep our boots!

Beach Huts & Blue Skies

We have had a couple of beautiful blue sky days and it has been wonderful to get out and about again.
I'm like a bear with a sore head when I can't get out with the camera and I have spent the last few days catching up on my walks.
It has also been perfect weather for the next set of photographs for the landslip survey in Swanage Bay. There is still plenty of movement in the cliffs and there are fresh slips happening very regularly, this is keeping the Coastguard busy.
